History

Although we can not say that this is true, there is an affirmation about the origin of the name of Els Pallaresos, which explains that it can come from the fact that the first inhabitants came from a region of the Pirineos, the Pallars county. The first reference we find was dated in the 14th. century.

During the Middle Ages Els Pallaresos was one of the parts of Tarragona. It did not have an own parish church until some years ago, and it was depending on the church of the Cathedral of Tarragona. In 1751 it incorporated its incomes into the "Comensalia de San Pablo".

Remarkable places

The architecture of Els Pallaresos is characterised by the wide work of the modernist architect, Josep Ma. Jujol. Some of these works are: the schools and the Casa del Comú (1920), the Casa Andreu of the Plaza de la Iglesia, the grating of the Casa Sol (1927), the reform of the Casa de Emilia Fortuny (1944), and the lateral altars of the Church of San Salvador). However, the most important building is the Casa Bofarull, that has an interesting facade, and a wonderful gallery that stills has some allegorical paintings of the Estaciones, made by Jujol. The element within the house that we want to mention is the stairs, which has a lightning conductor that looks like an angel on the top.

The gratingthat recovers the garden was made with some agricultural tools.
